Prefabricated Wall Panels For More Efficient Construction

Wall panels and other prefabricated building components are becoming increasingly popular in new construction, but what makes prefab components more efficient and why are builders and contractors switching? Pre-fabricated wall panels are sections of walls built off-site in a controlled environment, manufactured utilizing high-precision design software and state of the art equipment to ensuring the perfect fit for every project.

Wall Panel Installation

Designed With Expert Precision

Each wall panel made by Structural Truss is first designed to exact specifications by our in-house design team. This team consists of designers with over 30 years of collective framing experience in the field, which provides them the ability to truly understand how each piece fits together, and how to framer on site will construct the wall panel system on site. Finalized plans then enter the manufacturing stage where each panel is built with precision-driven machinery and care by our manufacturing team and our state of the art equipment.

Here is what our Project Coordinator, Thorin Chaffee, has to say about our Wall Panels:

“What I love about our manufactured wall panels is the precision. Precision built wall panels go together at site easily and quickly, saving our customers time and money on site. It allows an average “do it yourselfer” to frame a house as quickly as a seasoned pro, while still getting the professional results. “

Wall Panel Construction

Save Time, Material Waste and Costs Throughout Your Entire Job.

Using prefabricated wall panels for your build is designed to minimize waste and maximize efficiency in every way. There is no lumber cutting on site and measuring errors are also eliminated, reducing wood waste by up to 30% per job. In addition, man hours are used more efficiently than a traditional stick-frame build. Builders enjoy increased efficiency as almost two and a half times the homes can be produced utilizing the same crew with pre-fabricated components. There is also a minimized concern for weather delays allowing you to maintain your building timeline. Even insurance costs can be saved since the course of construction is shortened when building with prefabricated components.

When builders realize the savings on just one job are promising, the benefits are maximized when building multiple units throughout the year.

Arbutus Project using Wall Panels

Wall Panels in Action in Alberta, Canada

Wall panels provide efficiencies for building of all sizes – but the benfits are mostly realized in structure with many interior walls, such as residential dwellings, office buildings, apartments, retirement facilities, and both multi and single family homes.

We have seen great success recently with pre-fab wall panels in single-family residential buildings. Stranville Living in Lethbridge is currently building seven homes using our wall panel system. Check out what Garrett Slootweg, the contractor on this project, has to say about using pre-fab components.

Structural Truss also manufactured wall panels for a variety of multi-family projects in Southern  Alberta, including a new 6-story apartment building in west Lethbridge and a 4-plex housing project in Claresholm. In conjunction with our Floor Cassettes, these projects were able to provide quicker timelines, improve precision and quality, and ensure these structures were built right from the start.

The More Prefabricated Components the Better

Structural Truss began manufacturing prefabricated wall panels in 2019. Since project results and builder feedback were positive, the company tested out the prefabricated model on floors as well. With the combined efficiencies and benefits of wall panels, floor cassettes and stairs modules, contractors and builders are realizing how much they can gain when fully utilizing prefabricated wood products in their single and multifamily projects.
