The Situation:

Multi-family construction has reached a critical need in Southern Alberta cities like Lethbridge. Arbutus Landing contacted Structural Truss in early 2024 about a massive undertaking, a six-story condominium complex to house over 200 residents. Our team of in-house designers began laying out the large multitude of roof trusses, wall panels, and floor trusses that would be needed. Due to the scope of product demand, STS expanded their floor production team to create pre-fabricated cassettes instead of individual floor trusses.

The Solution:

We began construction at our floor, wall, and truss shops in the summer of 2024. To help Arbutus with the safety and integrity of their build, we used pro-rated fire resistant wood products from BarrierTek, which marked the largest collaboration between us and the Edmonton based company. Using coated wood material aids in both safety of construction, longer lasting life, and insurance premiums. Additionally, using pre-fabricated floor cassettes helped reduce the cost of labour time on-site. Over the course of months worth of deliveries, Structural Truss gave Arbutus 5,328 wall panels, 360 floor cassettes, and 946 roof trusses.

The Result:

While Arbutus Landing is still currently in construction, we are extremely proud and impressed with the results so far. This has been a mammoth undertaking, one of the most ambitious ever for our designers and production crews, and we think it will be of extreme value in the multi-family sector in Lethbridge for years to come.
