The Situation:
Stranville Living, a New Home Builder in Lethbridge Alberta, was seeking smart solutions to help build their new duplexes in the southside development of Southbrook. Structural Truss were able to provide customized roof trusses for the project, as well as prefabricated wall panels. These structural components would ensure enhanced precision and a more efficient construction timeline for the builder. Individual open web floor trusses were also included in the project and were manufactured for the first of seven planned duplexes. Â

The Solution:
Along with the manufacture of custom roof trusses for the seven duplexes our wall shop produced 931 prefabricated wall panels, delivered to site throughout the first half of 2025 in over 80 bundles, organized for quick installation. Garrett Slootweg, the head of construction with GJ’s Structures (which was hired by Stranville) originally requested individual open-web floor trusses. After construction was complete on the first duplex, our Project Coordinator discussed an opportunity to increase efficiency and speed up timelines by adding another new prefabricated component.
After further discussions, Garrett was convinced to try our pre-fabricated floor cassettes on the next round of construction. Our Structural Truss Cassette Systems integrate all essential flooring components—floor trusses, strong-backs, and sheathing—into a single prefabricated unit. These cassettes are crane-lifted into place, creating a fully functional floor system in just a few hours.

The Result:
The benefits of adding floor cassettes were immediately realized: What took two days on the first duplex – installing individual floor trusses – took only two hours. What should have taken two weeks for all six duplexes took only a total of two days! Combining fully customized and precision built prefabricated components helped build faster homes – but also created safer job sites, reduced on-site wood waste, and helped ensure a better built structure for new home owners. We are thrilled to have had the chance to collaborate with Stranville Living and Garrett from GJ’s Structures on this project, and appreciate their willingness to try a better way of doing things and taking a chance with prefabricated components. We look forward to collaborating again on more single and multifamily projects in Lethbridge, Alberta.Â
